Six things we do, and why they matter
These are the practices that determine whether a nail service helps your nails or quietly damages them. They are also all observable, which is the point.
Single-use on anything porous
Files, buffers, pumice and toe separators cannot be disinfected, so they are new for every client and disposed of afterwards. If you want to see the packet opened, ask — it is a reasonable thing to want.
Metal implements cleaned and sterilised
Nippers, pushers and clippers are cleaned and sterilised between uses rather than wiped and reused. Tools resting loose in a jar of blue liquid between clients have not been through a proper process, at any salon.
Basins scrubbed, not rinsed
Every pedicure basin is drained, physically scrubbed with detergent and disinfected between clients. A rinse and refill is not sufficient and we do not treat it as if it were.
Dip powder poured per client
Your fingers never go into a shared jar. The powder you choose is poured into a clean tray for your service. This is the single most common hygiene failure in dip services industry-wide.
Cuticles pushed, not cut
Live cuticle seals the nail matrix against bacteria. We soften and push it back and remove only genuine dead tissue and hangnails. Aggressive cutting causes the redness and soreness people often mistake for infection.
Soak-off removal, always
Gel, dip and acrylic all come off by acetone soak-off. Nothing is scraped, pried or popped. Almost every story about enhancements ruining someone’s nails traces back to a removal that was forced rather than soaked.
