Nail Polish Change in Bradenton, FL
Fifteen to twenty minutes, in and out. The service for when the shape is fine and only the colour is wrong.
A nail polish change at L.A Nails is a colour-only service: existing polish is removed, the nail is cleaned and dehydrated, and fresh polish is applied — no shaping, soaking or cuticle work. It takes about 15 minutes for regular lacquer on hands and 20 to 25 minutes for gel, at our Cortez Plaza salon in South Bradenton. Hands and toes can be done separately or together.
Not every visit needs to be an hour. If you had a manicure ten days ago, the shape is still good and the cuticles are fine, but the colour no longer suits Saturday, a polish change is the correct and considerably cheaper service. It is worth being clear about what it is not: no filing, soaking, cuticle work or massage. If your nails need reshaping, we will say a manicure is the better use of your money.
When a polish change is the right booking
Where clients across South Bradenton and Bayshore Gardens use this service most.
An event came up mid-cycle
A wedding, an interview or a holiday landing a week and a half into a manicure. The nails are structurally fine; the colour just needs to be something else. Twenty minutes solves it.
You need gel taken off properly
Gel removal on its own is a legitimate booking, and a much better idea than picking it off. We file the surface, wrap in acetone for ten to fifteen minutes, and lift the softened product off.
One or two nails are chipped
A single chipped nail on an otherwise good set does not require redoing all ten. We match the shade and repair only what needs it — the least expensive thing we do.
Toes need refreshing but feet are fine
Toe polish outlasts the pedicure it came with. If the callus work from three weeks ago is holding but the colour has faded in the sun, a toe polish change buys you another few weeks.

What a polish change involves
Short service, five steps. The dehydration step in the middle decides whether it lasts.
Removing what is on the nail
Regular lacquer comes off in a couple of minutes. Gel needs the surface filed to break the top coat seal, then acetone-soaked cotton wrapped in foil for ten to fifteen minutes until it lifts cleanly.
A quick check of the nail
We look at the plate for lifting, damage or ridging since your last service, and at the cuticle line. If the nails genuinely need shaping, this is where we say so and you can upgrade.
Light tidy of the free edge
A brief file to remove snags at the tip so the polish has a clean edge to cap. Not a reshape — just enough to stop the new colour catching and chipping at a rough spot.
Dehydrate the plate
The nail is wiped free of oil, remover residue and lotion. This single step decides whether the colour lasts a week or three days, and it is the one home polish changes skip.
Base, colour and top coat
Base, two thin colour coats and top coat, each capped across the free edge. Lacquer needs drying time in the chair; gel cures instantly and you can leave immediately.
What affects the price of a polish change
This is our most affordable service, and the few variables are all about time.
Regular lacquer versus gel
A lacquer change is the fastest and least expensive option. A gel change costs more because it involves a proper soak-off, a longer application with cures between coats, and a product that costs more per bottle.
Hands, toes or both
Fingers and toes are separate services. Doing both in one visit is more time-efficient than two trips, and the combined booking is priced accordingly. Toes take slightly longer because of the dry time before shoes go back on.
Removal of an existing enhancement
Removing gel, dip or acrylic before a fresh colour is separate work and is charged for. Removal of a set applied at another salon can take longer if we cannot identify the product until we start soaking.
French or a second colour
A French finish requires a hand-painted smile line on every nail and takes ten to fifteen minutes longer than a solid shade. Accent nails in a second colour add a smaller amount. Both are quoted on top of the base polish change.
How to get more days out of a polish change
The highest-return habit is cuticle oil at night — a hydrated plate flexes with your finger instead of resisting it, and polish on a flexible surface cracks far less. Gloves for washing up and a fresh clear top coat every three days will stretch a lacquer change into a second week. If you find yourself booking one every week, gel over your natural nails works out cheaper across a month.

Questions
Nail Polish & Colour Change — frequently asked questions
How long does a polish change take?
About 15 minutes for regular lacquer on hands and 20 to 25 minutes for gel, which includes the soak-off of the previous colour. Toes take slightly longer because of drying time. Both hands and toes together runs around 40 minutes.
Is a polish change the same as a manicure?
No. A polish change is colour only — remove, clean, reapply. A manicure includes soaking, shaping, cuticle care and massage before the polish goes on. If your cuticles have grown out or your nails need reshaping, you want the manicure.
Can I just come in for gel removal?
Yes, and it is a much better idea than picking it off. We file the top layer to break the seal, wrap each nail in acetone-soaked cotton for ten to fifteen minutes, and lift the softened gel off without scraping the natural nail underneath.
Can you fix just one or two chipped nails?
Yes. If the rest of the set is fine, we match the shade and repair only the nails that need it. It is a quick walk-in job and the least expensive service we offer. Come in as soon as it chips rather than waiting for it to spread.
Do I need an appointment for a polish change?
Usually not — it is a short service and we can normally fit it in as a walk-in, particularly Monday through Thursday. Friday afternoons and Saturdays are busy, so call (941) 752-7026 first if you are coming in then.
Something else on your mind? Call (941) 752-7026 — we would rather answer a question before your appointment than after it.
