Nail art is the one part of this trade where the difference between technicians is immediately visible. Anyone can apply a solid colour well with practice; a clean hand-painted line on a curved surface the size of a fingernail takes years. The constraint people underestimate is the canvas — a design that looks beautiful on a long coffin nail may have nowhere to go on a short squoval, so we adapt it rather than shrink it until it is illegible.

French tips and modern variations
The classic white smile line plus what replaced it: coloured tips, double French, angled lines, micro-French on short nails, reverse French at the cuticle. All one skill — a clean symmetrical curve, ten times.
Ombré and colour fades
A gradient blended so there is no visible line, done in gel with a sponge and repeated cures, or built into acrylic with two powders worked wet. Baby boomer ombré is still our most requested wedding set.
Chrome, foil and metallic finishes
Chrome powder over a cured no-wipe top coat gives a genuine mirror finish. Every ridge and filing mark shows through it, so the base work is most of the job.
Hand-painted detail and 3D accents
Florals, linework, marble and lettering over cured gel, plus rhinestones and charms set into a gel bead. Placement matters more than quantity — two accent nails read as designed, ten read as busy.

Bring a reference and talk it through
A photo on your phone is worth ten minutes of description. We will tell you what translates directly, what needs adapting for your length or shape, and how long it will take.
Choose the base service
Art sits on gel polish, acrylic, dip or extensions. The base sets the surface area and the lifespan: over a gel manicure two to three weeks, over acrylic through the fill cycle.
Base colour applied and cured
The full base colour cures completely before any art begins. Painting into a soft or partially cured base is what produces smudged lines and colour bleed.
Detail work, cured in stages
Fine detail is built in layers with cures between them, so a mistake in one element does not disturb the one under it. Embellishments are set into gel rather than glued on.
Encapsulate and seal
Flat art is sealed under a full top coat so nothing catches; raised elements are sealed around rather than over. Everything is cured, wiped and oiled before you leave.
What affects the price of nail art
Nail art is quoted per nail. That is deliberate — a striking design does not have to be an expensive one.
Number of nails
Two accent nails per hand is the most common request and keeps the cost modest. A full set of ten detailed nails is five times the work of two. Most designs actually look better with accents than with full repetition.
Technique
A stamped design or a decal is quick. A sponged ombré takes a few minutes per nail. Freehand linework, marble and florals take considerably longer. The price difference across those three tiers is large and it is entirely about time.
Embellishments
Rhinestones, pearls and charms are charged by piece as well as by placement time, since the materials themselves have a cost. A scattered crystal cluster is more work than it looks — each stone is individually placed and set.
Nail length and surface area
The same design costs more on long coffin nails than on short squoval ones, simply because there is more area to cover and more room for detail that has to be executed cleanly.

A design lives on your hand for three weeks, not on a screen for three seconds. Busy full-set designs photograph brilliantly and can feel overwhelming by day four, which is why accent placement is what most people are happiest with a fortnight in. Raised elements catch on clothing and keyboards, so keep them off the index and middle fingers if you type all day.

- Files, buffers and toe separators are single-use and disposed of after every client.
- Metal implements are cleaned and sterilised between uses.
- Pedicure basins are drained, scrubbed and disinfected between every client.
- Dip powder is poured into a clean tray per client — never a shared jar.
- Cuticles are pushed back, not aggressively cut. Only dead tissue and hangnails are removed.
- Gel, dip and acrylic are removed by acetone soak-off, never scraped or pried off.
- You can ask for your technician by name — we book you with the same person every time.

How much does nail art cost?
It is priced per nail rather than per set, and the range depends on technique. A stamped or decal design is at the low end, sponged ombré in the middle, and freehand linework or crystal work at the top. Two accent nails is the most cost-effective way to get a designed look.
Can I bring a picture of what I want?

How long does nail art last?
As long as the service it sits on. Over a gel manicure that is two to three weeks; over acrylic or extensions it lasts until your fill. Sealed flat designs outlast raised embellishments, which can catch and come loose with heavy hand use.
Do you do nail art on toes?
Yes. Toe art is popular here year-round for obvious reasons, and it lasts longer than art on fingers because toenails take far less impact. French tips, accent flowers and simple linework all work well on a pedicure.
How much extra time should I allow for nail art?
