Sand and salt-water dryness
Salt pulls moisture from the skin and sand abrades it, leaving the tight chalky feel you get after a Coquina Beach weekend. Exfoliation and a mask restore it faster than lotion at home.
What happens during a pedicure at L.A Nails
The order is deliberate — the polish stage only works if the four before it were done properly.
Warm soak in a disinfected basin
Feet soak in warm water with a cleansing soak. The basin was drained, scrubbed and disinfected after the previous client. Softened skin means everything after is done gently.
Trimming, shaping and cuticle care
Toenails are cut straight across and filed to remove sharp corners — the shape that prevents ingrowns. Cuticles are pushed back and only dead tissue is nipped.
Callus reduction
A softening agent goes on the heel, ball and pressure points, then callus is filed in stages. The goal is comfortable, not paper-thin; stripping it makes the next build-up thicker.
Exfoliation, mask and massage
A scrub from toes to knee, a hydrating mask and a warm towel wrap on the spa version. The massage covers the lower leg, arch and heel. Hot stones and paraffin are available.
Dehydrate, polish and dry
Oil comes off the plate before base coat, then two thin colour coats and a top coat capped at the edge. Gel cures instantly and is the better call before travel.
What affects the price of a pedicure

Basic versus spa versus deluxe
A basic pedicure covers nails, cuticles, light callus work and polish. A spa pedicure adds scrub, mask, warm towels and a longer massage. Deluxe tiers add hot stones, paraffin or a collagen treatment. Each step up adds roughly fifteen minutes of chair time.
Amount of callus work
A first pedicure after a long gap with significant heel build-up takes considerably longer than a maintenance visit six weeks later. If you have not had a pedicure in a year, budget for the higher end and expect the second visit to cost less.
Gel versus regular polish on toes
Gel toe polish costs more up front and requires a soak-off at removal, but it holds four to six weeks on toes versus one to two for regular lacquer. For anyone travelling or swimming daily, gel is usually the cheaper option per week worn.
Add-on treatments
Hot stone massage, paraffin dip, collagen socks, extended massage time and a French finish on toes are priced individually. None are required. A technician who tells you every add-on is essential is selling, not advising.
Combination with a manicure

How often should you get a pedicure in Florida?
Four to six weeks is the honest interval here, tighter than the six to eight a northern climate needs. Anyone with diabetes, neuropathy or circulation problems should speak to their doctor first and tell us what they advised — we work within that guidance and skip callus work we have been told to avoid.

How long does a pedicure take?
A basic pedicure takes about 40 minutes. A spa pedicure with scrub, mask, warm towels and extended massage takes 60 to 75 minutes. If you are adding gel polish or a hot-stone massage, allow the upper end of that range plus about ten minutes.
How do you clean the pedicure basins?
Every basin is drained, physically scrubbed with detergent and disinfected between clients, not just rinsed. Files, buffers and toe separators are single-use and go in the bin in front of you. Metal implements are cleaned and sterilised between uses. You are welcome to watch the setup.
Can I get a pedicure if I have callus cracks on my heels?
Yes, and it is one of the most useful reasons to come in. We soften and gradually file the callus rather than cutting it, which reduces the cracking without triggering thicker regrowth. If a crack is deep enough to bleed or looks infected, see a doctor first.
Should I shave my legs before a pedicure?
It is entirely up to you and it makes no difference to us. If you do shave, do it the day before rather than the same morning — freshly shaved skin is more sensitive to salt and sugar scrubs and can sting during exfoliation.
